Sadly that was the version I watched.
It kept throwing me. I felt like I was missing out.
There was this one scene where the lead character says like a whole sentence but all the subtitle said was “Why”.
Why indeed? Why indeed? Have to dumb it down for the Americans. Make and English dub for the stupid Americans… They won’t watch it if they have to read. I loath dubs. Ok sometimes anime has some decent dubs… Keyword there is “sometimes”.
I need to get my hands on the UK version (that has the original non-stupefied/simplified subtitles on it). Supposedly the distributor in the United States will be re-releasing it with corrected subs.
Though the movie is kinda long and slow paced. It was…. good.
Would I really want to watch it again? I don’t think anytime soon. It’s not the type of film that I think has a great replay value. Worth a one time for sure.
Maybe again down the road as well, if your like me and saw the stupefied/simplified subtitled release.
