I really liked it.
I had my doubts that I was going to. But I did.
It takes place in a magical year of 1998 (prior to the release of Star Wars Episode I) and follows the madcap cross country romp of a gang of friends in the pursuit to see the Phantom Menace before anyone else.
I say magical year of 1998 since 1999 is the day the movies died….
Where all life was sucked out of millions and billions of Star Wars fans when they ended up seeing Phantom Menace and wanted to murder Lucas afterwards.
Fanboys takes you back to that magical time when you had hope and dreams that Phantom Menace was going to be the best damn Star Wars movie ever!
The best part of Phantom Menace was the trailer (errr actually the 2nd trailer, not the 1st one (the 1st one wasn’t so good… the 2nd one on the other hand!!!)). It was completly CGI mind blowing amazing!
I remember going to see the latest Star Trek movie (at the time) specifically since it was rumored that there was a Star Wars trailer before it!
There was.
Sadly it wasn’t in the particular screening of the film I saw. There were 2 shows playing roughly with a five min difference. When we came out of the theater we saw some kids we knew and they were like “Wasn’t the Star Wars trailer amazing?!?!?”
We were like “:( it didn’t play on our screen. Just some shitty trailer for ______*.”
*______ since I have no idea what it was anymore. It was AGES ago.

I’m actually considering importing it from Canada just to get it on Blu-ray. **************** (studio) pulled the Blu-ray release and only released it on
DVD for some reason. 🙁
It would be a bare bone Blu-ray import. There are NO extras on it….
I kinda still want it.
I enjoyed this movie that much….
