A mixture of Cantonese Mandarin Portuguese English is spoken throughout this film.
This was the last movie on VHS that I owned.
I was staying at some friends house in DC for a bit. They only owned a VHS player. Went to the video store, saw Tsui Hark listed on the box and was sold. Somehow the Video Home System tape ended up with me and never returned. At least that’s how I think I ended up owning it. Or not. That was quite a long time ago. That story could have been a vicious lie. But somehow I did end up with it on VHS. No way I would have purchased it on VHS when DVDs were out. Hmmm maybe I did buy it on VHS as one of those pre-owned tapes for like a dollar? That actually sounds more like it….. It’s a mystery!
Is it worth 5 stars? Probably not. But I really like it.
Been a few years since I had watched it. On a whim this morning I checked to see if it was streaming online anywhere. Amazon was selling it digitally. SOLD! Totally worth it. Fight scenes were still as good as I remembered.
